Crystal Web now offers mobile data over Vodacom’s last-mile network, the company announced.
As part of the launch, the ISP is offering a one-month special where customers pay “R1 for any bundle size up to 3GB”.
“After one month, standard rates apply, but even these rates are up to 33% cheaper than standard mobile data rates and Crystal Web promises that it has effectively killed off the out-of-bundle shark,” said Crystal Web CEO Shaun Kaplan.
“Customers choose, instead, to upgrade once they’ve run out of data.”
Existing Vodacom contract customers are also able to switch to Crystal Mobile by changing their APN details.
“Prepaid and non-Vodacom customers will receive a pre-provisioned SIM card from Crystal Web.”
Mobile data is provided over the Vodacom last-mile network and then breaks out to the Internet via Crystal Web.
Kaplan said more new products and services are coming in the future, along with “some very big surprises”. The company’s website states that MTN mobile data is “coming soon”.
The Crystal Mobile packages include:
- Mobile Play 500MB – R69
- Mobile Moment 1GB – R99
- Mobile Master 2GB – R199
- Mobile Pro 3GB – R299
