MTN clarifies HTC Flyer contract terms

When HTC first announced their iPad contender to the South African market in March 2011, MTN was quick to announce contract offerings to go with the HTC Flyer.

Though the HTC Flyer competes with the iPad for attention, it takes tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab and BlackBerry PlayBook head on with its 7-inch display, 1.5 GHZ processor and high-speed HSPA+ wireless capabilities.

It also has 32GB internal storage, 1GB RAM and support for more external storage through a SD2.0 compatible microSD slot.

MTN’s original press release was unclear as to whether the R299 per month Anytime 100 contract on which the device was offered was a 12- or 24-month contract.

MTN has since clarified that the contract runs over 24 months, but that 150MB of data per month will be added for the first 12 months.

According to the MTN website, the Anytime 100 package includes R100 worth of airtime which may be spent on voice minutes, SMSes and data.

With no data bundle bolted onto the contract, the data tariff is R2 per megabyte (MB), which means the Anytime 100 package can be regarded as a 50MB data package in its most basic form.
