Vodacom LTE now covers 75.8% of South Africans

Vodacom has increased its LTE coverage to 75.8% of the South African population, up from 58.2% a year ago.

Over the past year, Vodacom has invested R8.471 billion in its network, which helped it to widen its 3G and 4G data coverage, improve voice quality, and increase data speeds.

Vodacom now has over 7,900 4G/LTE sites in South Africa, which equates to 75.8% population coverage.

“We extended our high-speed transmission to 92.1% of our sites,” said Vodacom.

To further enhance its data services, Vodacom has entered into an agreement with WBS which will enable it to roam on WBS’s LTE and LTE-A network.

LTE coverage comparison

Vodacom said its LTE data coverage is far better than that of MTN (60%), Cell C (41%), and Telkom (26%).
