MTN store in Centurion Mall robbed by gunmen

An MTN store in Centurion Mall was robbed on Sunday morning, according to employees at neighbouring shops.

Staff from a bank and a competing mobile network who work next to MTN’s main store in the mall told MyBroadband that two armed men entered the premises at around 10:00 and told everyone in the shop to get into the back area.

It is alleged that iPhones were targeted in the robbery. The store is one of two MTN shops at Centurion Mall.

The shop was closed to customers following the robbery, with the front cordoned off while security guards spoke with staff inside.

MTN was asked for comment on the incident, but had not replied by the time of publication.

The incident follows a robbery at a Vodacom store in Centurion Mall in 2016, where smartphones were taken.
