Mall of the South armed robbery

Mall of the South Centre Management has confirmed that an armed robbery took place at an MTN Store on Sunday morning.

Suspects entered the store at around 09:05, posing as delivery staff, and informed the staff an armed robbery was in progress.

The staff members were forced to go to their storeroom where they were tied up with cable ties.

One suspect, wearing an MTN uniform, was standing outside the store as a lookout while the other suspects were inside.

The suspects left the store with a delivery trolley with bags on it, and fled the scene in a white Nissan NP200 with an undisclosed amount of goods.

No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained during the robbery.

The mall’s security was informed of the incident at 09:26, after which the SAPS, Community Policing Forum, and D&D Tactical were informed.

An investigation into the MTN store robbery is underway.

The Mall of the South’s spokesperson Hester Smith said there were no disruptions in the mall, and trading is continuing as normal.
