Out-of-bundle data charges – Afrihost vs FNB vs Virgin Mobile

MyBroadband recently compared the out-of-bundle data charges of the major mobile networks in South Africa.

With the exception of Telkom, the providers don’t automatically prevent subscribers from using airtime for OOB data charges.

The networks said they deliver data depletion SMS notifications, however, which warn users when their data bundle has run out.

Virtual networks

Mobile virtual network operators also have varying data depletion warnings and OOB usage policies.

Along with charging their own tariffs, the operators determine their own out-of-bundle rates.
