The life of the CEO of a cellular operator is not easy – dealing with network problems, trying to calm consumers down amidst BlackBerry outages, staying relevant in an increasingly competitive market and figuring out where to invest your millions in bonuses.
One of the perks of the job is that you can get your hands on the latest gadgets and use whatever mobile phone you want. If you are not happy with your phone you can simply change it for another one – no questions asked.
The fact that the CEOs of cellular operators can use any phone they want raises the question which phones they actually prefer.
What the CEOs use
Virgin Mobile CEO Steve Bailey said he is currently using both the HTC 3D and BlackBerry Bold 9780, and is also looking forward to the Samsung Note next month. Bailey added that he would love to get his hands on the first Windows Phone 7 smartphone from Nokia which is expected in early 2012.
MTN South Africa CEO Karel Pienaar is an iPhone lover, and is currently using the iPhone 4 (with iOS5). Unsurprisingly Pienaar is keen to get his hands on Apple’s new iPhone 4S. “I just love the Apple eco-system from iPad to iPhone to Apple Macbook and am getting to a stage where I can’t live without my iPad and iPhone apps. Must say the new ios5 operating system is a phenomenal improvement,” said Pienaar.
