Standard Bank’s mobile service to run on MTN

Standard Bank has announced a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) partnership with MTN to introduce new mobile products to its customers.
Formerly known as Standard Bank Mobile, the MVNO launched in 2018 will now be known as Standard Bank Connect, the company announced on Wednesday.
The mobile service currently has 300,000 customers who have their bank fees offered back in Airtime based on which Standard Bank products and services they use.
The head of Standard Bank Connect, Kartik Mistry, said that the collaboration will bring its customers a host of newly differentiated products.
“Standard Bank Connect represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing our customers with end-to-end connectivity solutions that are tailored to offer more simplicity, more value and greater flexibility,” Mistry said.
“Our aim is to create shared value by placing our partners at the centre of all we do whilst fulfilling our vision that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern, connected life,” MTN chief wholesale officer Quintus de Beer said about the partnership.
Customers will initially be invited to the pilot programme, where they will assist the MVNO in developing the mobile product plans.
Standard Bank Connect offers two packages: the Connected Circles and the Connected Gigs Plans.
The Connected Circles plan accommodates customers who use voice and data, whereas the Connected Gigs plan is tailored to users with data-centric needs.
Customers will be able to buy airtime bundles for voice and data on both of these plans.
Standard Bank Connect customers will also qualify for monthly discounts on tech accessories thanks to the bank’s partnership with Dress Your Tech.
Additional features include plans that can be committed to for one, three, six, or twelve months and non-expiring top-up data.
