Vodacom has the most reliable network in the Western Cape
MyBroadband Insights’ 2024 national voice network quality report revealed that Vodacom has the most reliable voice network in the Western Cape.
This report is based on an extensive network testing project to evaluate the voice network quality of the four major operators in South Africa — Vodacom, MTN, Cell C, and Telkom.
MyBroadband Insights partnered with Keysight distributor Coral-i and used Keysight’s network testing platform, Nemo.
Keysight’s Nemo platform is a world-leading testing system used by operators and regulators globally.
Using this platform, MyBroadband Insights tracked key performance indicators associated with network quality.
These metrics included the Call Setup Success Ratio (CSSR), the Dropped Call Ratio (DCR), the Call Setup Time (CST), and the Speech Quality Mean Opinion Score (MOS).
Between 15 May and 4 July, MyBroadband Insights covered over 10,000 kilometers, made over 38,000 calls, and recorded over 633 hours of call data.
The testing evaluated the performance of the voice networks in all of South Africa’s large cities, secondary cities, and smaller towns.
MyBroadband also conducted testing while traveling on South Africa’s major roads, including the N1, N2, N3, and other highways.
The results revealed that Vodacom, Telkom, and MTN were joint winners in providing excellent voice quality in South Africa.
Vodacom achieved the fastest national average call setup time of 1.51 seconds, ensuring users can connect their calls quickly.
The report further revealed that Vodacom had the most reliable mobile voice network in the Western Cape.
