Vodacom has the top mobile voice network in Gauteng
MyBroadband Insights has released its mobile voice testing results, which show that Vodacom has the best mobile voice network in Gauteng.
The project assessed the performance of the four major South African mobile voice networks on key performance indicators such as Call Setup Time, Call Setup Success Ratio, Dropped Call Ratio, and Speech Quality Mean Opinion Score (MOS).
Testing took place between 15 May and 4 July and covered South Africa’s large cities, secondary cities, smaller towns, and major roads.
This resulted in over 10,000 kilometres and over 633 call hours being recorded using custom firmware and Keysight Nemo — a world-renowned testing platform supplied by Coral-i.
The collected data was then processed and collated according to European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) specifications.
This data showed that Vodacom was the top performer in Gauteng with an overall score of 88.4.
It boasted the lowest Call Setup Time at only 1.26 seconds and a 100% Call Setup Success Ratio.
Telkom had the best Dropped Call Ratio of only 0.43%, as well as the best Speech Quality MOS of 4.27/5.
