The most reliable mobile voice network in Mpumalanga belongs to Vodacom
The MyBroadband Insights Voice Testing Project found that Vodacom has Mpumalanga’s top mobile voice network.
The project was conducted in partnership with Keysight distributor Coral-I and assessed the four major South African mobile voice networks’ performance across several key performance indicators.
These include Call Setup Time, Call Setup Success Ratio, Dropped Call Ratio, and Speech Quality Mean Opinion Score (MOS).
Over 633 call hours of data were recorded across 10,000km of travel during the testing period of 15 May to 4 July.
This data was collected from South Africa’s large cities, secondary cities, smaller towns, and major roads.
The testing used a terminating and originating station, each with four Android devices running custom firmware designed to measure network KPIs.
The originating station was transported across the country, while the terminating station was placed in a room where there is excellent signal for each of South Africa’s major voice networks.
It also had access to a backup power source to avoid any energy disruptions.
Once the data had been collected, it was collated according to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) specifications.
Based on our results, Vodacom had the top mobile voice network in Mpumalanga with an overall score of 75.2.
It achieved this success thanks to having the best Call Setup Time of only 1.37 seconds and the best Call Setup Success Ratio of 99.32%.
Telkom had the best Speech Quality MOS with a rating of 4.14/5, while MTN had the best Dropped Call Ratio of 1.8%.
