MTN — The leading mobile voice network in the Free State

MTN has the best mobile voice network in the Free State.

This is according to the recent MyBroadband Insights Voice Testing Project, which was conducted between 15 May and 4 July and covered South Africa’s large cities, secondary cities, smaller towns, and major roads.

All four of South Africa’s major mobile voice networks were tested — MTN, Vodacom, Telkom, and Cell C.

The testing was conducted in partnership with Keysight distributor Coral-I and used Keysight’s world-renowned testing platform, Nemo, to collect the appropriate data.

The testing also used originating and terminating stations that were both outfitted with custom firmware designed to measure the most notable voice network KPIs.

These included Call Setup Time, Call Setup Success Ratio, Dropped Call Ratio, and Speech Quality Mean Opinion Score (MOS).

Based on these results, MTN was the highest achiever in the Free State with a score of 81.7.

It performed consistently well across every category, ensuring it was the overall winner in the province.

Vodacom was also highly competitive and had the best Call Setup Time of only 1.63 seconds and the lowest Dropped Call Ratio of 1.32%.

Telkom had the best Call Setup Success Ratio of 98.9% and the best Speech Quality MOS of 4.26/5.
