Up to 95% off SMS prices
MTN today announced that it has added SMSes to their MTN Zone service which promises discounts of up to 95% on calls. MTN Zone features a dynamic pricing model that optimizes network utilization by offering discounts to customers in areas that have network capacity available. Different discounts are offered depending on the caller’s location and the time of day.
Donovan Smith, General Manager, Consumer, MTN South Africa says, "Our customers will now pay as little as four cents per SMS at any time of the day, depending where they are located. They no longer have to wait for off-peak times to SMS their family and friends."
"SMS communication has become ubiquitous, convenient and trendy. We are again leading the pack by offering our customers practical and cost-effective solutions that meet their lifestyle needs," Smith said.
MTN Zone was launched in December 2007, and according to MTN it has attracted many new customers to the prepaid base.
"The marketplace is cut-throat at the moment and cellphone customers are far more savvy when it comes to value for money. MTN Zone addresses this consumer need and its success so far bears testament to this," Smith says.
MTN Zone customers will receive discounts of up to 95% on qualifying SMSes sent to all South African networks. The latest product enhancement also allows customers on MTN Anytime and Off-peak packages to send more SMSes for the same amount of money with no restriction on destination.
MTN Zone features a dynamic pricing model that optimizes network utilization by offering discounts to customers in areas that have network capacity available. This stimulates increased usage at different times of the day other than off-peak times.
Migration to MTN Zone is free of charge, but to gain the benefits, MTN Pay As You Go customers must migrate to MTN Zone.
