BlackBerry Internet Service capped on MTN
MTN has begun informing its subscribers that its existing BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) will be capped at 200MB and re-branded to “BlackBerry Absolute” from 1 March 2013.
This confirms earlier reports that MTN would be introducing a cap on its BIS offering for older (BlackBerry OS 7 and earlier) BlackBerry devices.
The text of the SMS was as follows:
Yello, to ensure a world class internet experience for all MTN customers, the BlackBerry BIS package on the MTN network will be capped at 200MB & will be offered as a new plan called BlackBerry Absolute as of the 01/03/2013.”

Earlier reports based on an MTN document dated 5 February 2013 stated that MTN customers will be able to load an Internet bundle once the cap of this new BlackBerry Absolute package is exhausted.
MTN was contacted for further information regarding the capping of its BIS offering, but the network did not immediately respond to media queries.
