Telkom Mobile nails Vodacom in “Unlimited” ad

Telkom Mobile’s latest advertising campaign takes a dig at Vodacom’s Red smartphone price plan which offers ‘limitless’ voice calls and SMSs.

Telkom Mobile and Vodacom are offering smartphone plans with unlimited calls, but Telkom Mobile’s offering is significantly cheaper than Vodacom’s.

  • Vodacom Red for R1,999 per month: Limitless calls, Limitless SMSs and 1.5GB of data
  • Telkom Mobile Unlimited Voice for R1,199 per month: Unlimited calls, No SMSs, No data

However, while Vodacom’s Red plan is more expensive than Telkom Mobile’s Unlimited Voice product, it offers unlimited SMSs, 1.5GB of data and a high end smartphone.

Telkom Mobile’s R1,199 Unlimited Voice service, in comparison, is a SIM only plan without any SMSs or data. The price increases to R1,499 with a Samsung Galaxy S3 and to R1,599 with a 32GB Apple iPhone 5.

Telkom Mobile is making the most of its cheaper rate, although it does not offer the same as Vodacom, in its new advertising campaign.
