MoMo kicks off in SA
The first South African chapter of Mobile Monday (MoMo) will kick off at 16h00 in Johannesburg today attended by a global who’s who of the mobile industry.
Many dignitaries, including the Finnish Ambassador and the Nokia executive responsible for the Middle East and Africa, will attend the MoMo event at Primi Forum in Melrose Arch looks set to be impressive.
According to Dylan Piatti, Creative Director of Cellsmart Technologies, and MoMo founding member, the launch of MoMo in South Africa is a veritable coming of age for the local mobile industry. Other founding members are Teemu Kiijarvi, Toni Eliasz, Prejlin Naidoo and Daniel Torras of Delta Partners.
“It is always encouraging to see the local launch of respected and influential global industry associations. Mobile Monday looks forward to taking the South African mobile industry to another level as we benefit from interacting with mobile gurus and thought leaders,” he said.
Mobile enthusiasts are invited to listen to an expert panel discussion which will focus on mobile in Africa and a critical examination of the extent to which mobile companies are effectively taking advantage of the many opportunities on the continent. Panelists include Rick Joubert – Executive Head at Vodacom, Tom Jaquette – Vice President Capgemini Consulting: Telecommunications, Media, Entertainment (TME) Market Sector and Iikka Väkiparta – Nokia Head of Business System Enablers, Middle East and Africa.
The primary aim of Mobile Monday is to encourage innovation in the industry that will boost growth in the sector. Mobile Monday is a global community of mobile industry visionaries, developers and influential’s fostering cooperation and cross-border business development through virtual and live networking events to share ideas, best practices and trends from global markets.
