MTN going uncapped again?

MTN BlackBerry

MTN has informed some of their BlackBerry Absolute subscribers that it has restored their unlimited service, which means that the service will not expire after the 200MB fair use allowance is used up.

In an SMS to some BlackBerry subscribers, MTN said: “MTN has restored your unlimited service on BlackBerry Absolute. Your service will not expire once your 200MB fair use allowance is used up.”

However, one MTN client said that the cellular operator told him to ignore the message when he asked them about it.

MTN introduced a 200MB fair use limit on its BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) in March 2013, aimed at stopping abuse on its BlackBerry network.

However, the MTN website still shows that its BlackBerry Absolute plan comes with a 200MB monthly usage allowance.

MTN was contacted for clarity regarding its BlackBerry Absolute usage limit, but the company could not immediately say what its plans were with its BlackBerry service.

When MyBroadband called the MTN helpdesk to try to gain insight into the SMS, the agent said that they are not aware of the BlackBerry SMS sent to customers. She added that MTN BlackBerry Absolute users have a 200MB monthly usage limit.
