Telkom released its annual results for the year ended 31 March 2013 today (14 June 2013), showing that Telkom Mobile had 2,299 base station at the end of the reporting period.

According to Telkom’s financial results it had 1,985 active mobile sites integrated in its network.

The company further reported that it had 651 LTE sites integrated in its network.

Mobile subscriber growth

Telkom’s financial reports revealed that it had 1,534,265 active mobile subscribers at 31 March 2013, up 3.4% from a year earlier.

Telkom’s active mobile subscriber base consisted of 1,158,327 prepaid subscribers and 375,938 contract subscribers.

What should be of some concern to Telkom is that its number of contract subscribers declined by 15.3% over the last 12 months – down from 443,953 on 31 March 2012.

Telkom’s mobile subscribers spent, on average R61.47 with Telkom Mobile per month (average revenue per user – ARPU). This figure dropped by 17.1% over the last 12 months.
