Telkom Mobile recently unveiled its SIM-Sonke pre-paid tariff plan, offering on-net calls at 29c per minute, off-net calls at 75c per minute, and data at 29c per MB. All calls are billed per second.
Telkom Mobile head Atilla Vitai said that their new pre-paid rate is not cheap, it’s just “very, very good value”.
MyBroadband asked the other operators whether they are planning to match Telkom Mobile’s SIM-Sonke pre-paid prices. The feedback was telling.
Instead, Harries said that their “1,2 free pre-paid price plan is available to all pre-paid customers across all channels.”
“The effective rate on this plan is 66 cents per minute billed at per second to anyone on any network, every day. Most importantly our offer is available to the 97% of the South African population that our network covers,” said Harries.
