High-speed access to Amazon Web Services in South Africa

Teraco Data Environments announced in a press release on Tuesday, 11 November 2014, that it now offers its clients high-performance network access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) via Level 3 Cloud Connect Solutions.

African enterprises looking to connect to cloud-based services can use Teraco’s data centres and Level 3’s Cloud Connect Solutions for secure and reliable cloud networking solutions, Teraco said.

As part of the AWS Partner Network (APN), and supporting AWS Direct Connect, Level 3 provides network connections which give access to the AWS cloud computing platform and services over a dedicated 1Gbps or 10Gbps connection.

AWS is a cloud computing platform which includes services such as virtual servers, storage, databases, and content delivery. Some of the components (specifically, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud) are developed from Amazon’s technical centre in Cape Town.

“To do business in the cloud requires a shift in thinking and an expenditure transformation,” said Lex van Wyk, CEO of Teraco.

“The combination of Teraco’s data centre infrastructure, AWS Direct Connect, and Level 3 Cloud Connect Solutions makes it even easier to move, operate, and secure enterprise applications in the cloud.”
