MWEB planning affordable virtual hosting service
In September 2010 MWEB Business launched its new range of “high-specification, low-cost” hosted server offerings, starting from R683 per month for a dedicated server with 4GB RAM and 50GB of traffic.
The company is set to complement its existing dedicated server offering with a virtual hosting product in partnership with VMware and Dell.
The new MWEB Business virtual dedicated server solution will offer clients flexibility where they will be able to change on the fly, including CPU power, RAM and disk space.
This new virtual hosting product will compete against dedicated server hosting offerings from companies such as Hetzner, Web Africa and Afrihost.
Pricing for the new solution will be in line with MWEB Business’ current dedicated server offerings – hence starting at well below R1000 per month for an entry level service and increasing with higher server or traffic specifications.
According to MWEB Business general manager Andre Joubert their new virtual hosting product is set to be launched in March.
