MWEB unveils uncapped virtual hosting servers
MWEB Business has launched a range of Hosted Virtual Server solutions to complement its recently expanded range of hosted server products.
The new Hosted Virtual Server offerings deliver unrivalled flexibility and scalability coupled with unsurpassed reliability, said Bernard Kur, Head of Product Management and Development at MWEB Business.
The MWEB Business Virtual Server Hosting packages work by partitioning several large physical servers (hosted at the MWEB Business Data Centre) into multiple virtual servers, each of which has its own operating software and which can be rebooted independently.
MWEB Business Virtual Hosted Servers promises 99.9% uptime. “If any hardware crashes, it automatically and seamlessly fails over to redundant hardware which is already allocated within our entire Virtual Server environment,” explains Kur.
MWEB Business explains that their Hosted Virtual Server options have been designed for businesses that need flexibility and scalability along with redundancy of a high end server but cannot afford to invest in one.
“With a Hosted Virtual Server, they get the redundancy they need at an affordable, easy-to-justify cost. Virtual Hosting relies on a shared resource which equates to lower resources and hardware required. These cost savings have been passed onto the customer along with all the rich functionality that the control panel has to offer” he explains.
MWEB Business allows customers to “burst” their hardware capacity for short periods of time when required – and only charges them for the additional use rather than for a full server.
Businesses that require scalability as their environment grows will also benefit from MWEB Business’ Hosted Virtual Server offerings as they can select the hardware they require initially – and then scale up at any time.
The virtual nature of the solution enables subscribers to amend their server specifications remotely via the MWEB Business MyAccount portal. “You can increase the memory, add additional vCPUs and add or remove entire servers, without any extra paperwork or delays,” said Kur.
“An additional function built into the offering is a “snapshot” feature, which allows you to make a copy of the current configuration of the virtual server and then implement changes or updates with the knowledge that you can change your configuration and roll back to your environment at the time you took the snap shot.”
Each MWEB Business Hosted Virtual Server offering comes with uncapped traffic at no additional cost.
MWEB Business currently offers eight customisable Virtual Server Hosting packages ranging from R330 (incl VAT) to R1150 (incl VAT), depending on hardware specifications and software options.
Customers can choose between two operating systems: Ubuntu for Linux and Microsoft 2008 Windows Server.
