Cisco planning to acquire Viptela
Cisco has announced its intent to acquire Viptela, a company which delivers cloud-first software-defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) solutions.
SD-WAN adoption is growing quickly, with the IDC projecting that demand for SD-WAN will reach $6 billion by 2020.
Viptela’s solutions are deployed in over 16,000 offices and are used in some of the largest cloud-based SD-WAN customer deployments.
Cisco and Viptela will deliver next-generation SD-WAN offerings to customers by combining Viptela’s SD-WAN solution with Cisco’s ISR platform and IWAN solution, said the companies.
“We will make significant investments to combine the technologies,” said Cisco.
“Together, we will deliver a comprehensive set of SD-WAN solutions, addressing on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-based deployments.”
