2024 Cloud and Security Conference — ATS Network Management CEO Glenn Lazarus on the power of observability
ATS Network Management CEO Glenn Lazarus recently participated in a panel discussion at the 2024 MyBroadband Cloud and Security Conference.
Lazarus has worked in the ICT sector for nearly 25 years and is an expert in observability, network management, application performance management, ITSM, and much more.
In his role as the CEO of ATS Network Management, he heads up a team of experts focused on helping businesses benefit from the latest network performance management software solutions.
He has grown the company to great heights, as ATS Network Management now boasts a partner network of over 200 partners.
Lazarus is particularly knowledgeable about SolarWinds and is passionate about the value it can bring to South African businesses.
Panel discussion
In the panel discussion, Lazarus discussed the difference between observability — which is offered by SolarWinds — and monitoring.
He explained that while monitoring is typically implemented for individual parts of the ICT stack, observability focuses on giving companies a comprehensive view of their entire ICT ecosystem.
This includes valuable insight into how different ICT solutions work with each other — and whether it is happening effectively.
“In the past, different ICT professionals worked in silos — like DevOps or infrastructure — but couldn’t see the full picture,” said Lazarus.
“With solutions like SolarWinds Observability, you get one big picture of what is happening inside your enterprise.”
AI and machine learning
Lazarus said that AI and machine learning play a key role in solutions like SolarWinds Observability.
“The best observability solutions don’t only tell enterprises what their systems are doing right now — they also predict future resource requirements,” said Lazarus.
“This is done based on how the enterprise’s system is running in the present, and helps businesses identify future issues before they happen.”
Lazarus said that AI is also used in many other areas of the SolarWinds solution stack — including for performance management.
“Businesses need to enhance their capability to perform tasks as effectively as possible,” said Lazarus.
“AI and machine learning can fill that role.”
