What’s Next — Resilient Innovations CEO Willem Olivier on backup and work area recovery strategies
In this What’s Next with Aki Anastasiou interview, Resilient Innovations CEO Willem Olivier discusses the value of Disaster Recovery as a Service, backup as a service, and work area recovery spaces.
Olivier has 24 years of experience in the resilience and Business Continuity Management (BCM) industries.
This includes working on projects across 15 African, Middle East, and Indian Ocean countries.
In 2023, Olivier was part of the management group that bought out ContinuitySA from Dimension Data and rebranded it to Resilient Innovations.
Resilient Innovations offers recovery facilities, managed office spaces, co-location in data centres, and a cloud platform offering Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and Backup as a Service (BaaS).
The interview
In this What’s Next interview, Olivier discusses what DRaaS is and the value it provides.
Olivier explains why it is important for South African businesses to embrace DRaaS and how Resilient Innovations clients weren’t affected by the recent CrowdStrike outage.
He then reveals that Resilient Innovations recently built its own DRaaS and backup facility.
Olivier also explains the difference between DRaaS and BaaS, before outlining the pitfalls of relying exclusively on your existing cloud provider’s disaster recovery and backup mechanisms.
He talks about work area recovery, too, and explains how it helps businesses get back up and running when disaster strikes.
Olivier concludes the interview by explaining how businesses can attend the launch of the new Resilient Innovations DRaaS facility.
