Heavy Eskom load shedding on Sunday: 19 July

Eskom implemented stage 2 of its rolling blackout schedule from 08:00 on Sunday (19 July 2015).
The utility warned on Friday that it would need to perform load shedding due to a shortage of generation capacity, and to build up reserves for the week ahead.
“Every little bit of savings goes a long way in assisting us to manage the demand and supply of electricity and to eliminate the need for load shedding,” Eskom said.
“In winter, the electricity demand peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity is used during these times.”
Eskom continued to appeal for electricity users to reduce usage throughout the day, adding that more energy needs to be saved during the peak periods from 06:00 to 10:00, and 17:00 to 21:00.
“As temperatures drop, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm,” Eskom said.
