First look at Elon Musk’s Tesla Gigafactory
Tesla’s Gigafactory aims to produce 50GWh of electricity annually by 2020 – thanks to its location and use of solar panel technology.
The 510,000 square metre factory – currently under construction – is located in Sparks, Nevada, and will build the batteries for Tesla’s electric cars and other Tesla products.
The factory will be powered by renewable energy only, and is scheduled to start producing batteries in 2017.
A drone operator conducted a flyover of the factory recently and posted the video to YouTube – giving us a look at the $5-billion project, and what progress has been made so far.
