Italian energy company TerniEnergia recently completed its newest giant solar power plant in South Africa, the 82.5MW Paleisheuwel photovoltaic park in the Western Cape.

According to a report by TimesLive, the plant will produce 153GWh per year – enough to power 48‚000 households – once it reaches optimal operation.

The Paleisheuwel plant is spread over 240 hectares, includes 611,000 PV panels, and has been connected to the Eskom grid.

TerniEnergia supplied the solar modules and inverters for the project, and will provide operations and maintenance support for the plant’s 25-year life cycle.

The images of the Paleisheuwel plant were provided by TerniEnergia.
