Forced shutdown of two Eskom generating units — load-shedding increased

Eskom has announced that load-shedding between 05:00 and 16:00 every day will increase to stage 2.

This comes after Eskom said the forced shutdown of two generating units on Tuesday morning was “imminent”.

It will increase load-shedding to stage 2 from 09:00 on Tuesday.

“Eskom will monitor the system and communicate should any significant changes occur,” the state-owned power utility said.

On Sunday, Eskom said it hoped to implement an alternating schedule of stage 1 and 3 power cuts this week.

It said it anticipated approximately 3,700MW of generating capacity to return to service by Tuesday evening.
