Eskom cuts load-shedding again — here is the new timetable
Eskom has announced that load-shedding will drop to Stage 2 from 10:00 on Friday, 1 December 2023, until 16:00.
The power utility will then implement Stage 3 load-shedding from 16:00 on Friday until 05:00 on Sunday, 3 December.
“Due to the sustained improvement of the generation capacity with unplanned outages at 13,542MW, load-shedding will be reduced to Stage 2 from 10:00 today until 16:00,” it said.
“Thereafter, Stage 3 load-shedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 05:00 on Sunday when load-shedding will be suspended from 05:00 until 16:00.”
Following the suspension of load-shedding, Eskom will implement Stage 3 from 16:00 on Sunday until 05:00 on Monday.
The power utility said it would provide a schedule update for next week on Sunday afternoon.
Eskom had previously planned to rotate between Stage 3 load-shedding during the day, Stage 4 during the evening peaks, and Stage 5 overnight.
On Thursday, 30 November, Eskom published a more complex load-shedding timetable that introduced a third timeslot for the evening peak from 16:00 until 20:00.
This was to help manage its emergency reserves, Eskom said.
However, it now appears to have returned to the old approach for this weekend.
The load-shedding schedule from Friday, 1 December 2023, to Sunday, 3 December, is provided in the table below.
