MTN launches Huawei load-shedding backup power system contracts
MTN has partnered with Huawei and Verteco to offer Huawei’s Power-M load-shedding backup systems, with prices starting at R1,699 per month over five years.
The backup systems are available with three levels of energy storage — 5kWh, 10kWh, and 15kWh — and all three variants are combined with a 5kW inverter.
“Tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), this initiative underscores the essential preparedness required by businesses to navigate through uncertainties caused by frequent power interruptions,” said MTN.
“An advanced load-shedding solution, HUAWEI Power-M is designed to provide a space-efficient and digital backup power solution for SMEs.”
It added that Huawei’s Power-M systems are ideal for various business sizes, ranging from small offices to larger establishments.
The all-in-one systems come with a ten-year swap-out warranty, and the modular design lets users expand their battery capacity if needed.
They also offer flexibility regarding power sources, with the ability to receive a power supply from the grid, diesel generators, and solar power systems.
“This ensures that businesses can adapt their power backup setup according to their evolving needs,” says Songezo Masisi, general manager for SME and indirect channel at MTN South Africa.
MTN Business customers can sign up for a Huawei Power-M backup system online or at select MTN Retail stores across South Africa.
“To further enhance accessibility, the solution comes with flexible financing options through Centrafin and Absa, enabling SMEs to acquire the Power-M solution with ease,” says MTN.
“Customers can choose to purchase the solution outright or opt for a rental option, catering to their specific financial requirements.”
MTN’s Huawei Power-M price plans are provided in the table below. Prices include SANS-compliant installation, VAT, and support for businesses.
It should be noted that the system combining the 5kW inverter with 5kWh of battery storage is soft-locked to 2.5kW during load-shedding.
