New Telkom Openserve fibre-to-the-home areas announced

Openserve, the wholesale division of Telkom, will roll out fibre-to-the-home infrastructure to over 10,000 Pretoria East homes by the end of December 2015.
The roll-out will include Faerie Glen and Garsfontein. Openserve has a coverage map on its website which shows the new FTTH areas, and areas it plans to cover in the future.
The roll-out follows Telkom’s announcement at the end of September that it would install FTTH in Bryanston, and additional suburbs in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, and Port Elizabeth.
Openserve was launched earlier this month, physically separating Telkom’s wholesale fixed-line Internet access division from its retail and mobile divisions.
“Openserve is committed to Telkom’s goal of reaching one million homes with fibre access by 2018 and already has the largest fibre network in the country,” said Openserve MD Alphonzo Samuels.
