The Fibre-to-the-home Council Global Alliance has dubbed 4 November “Gimme Fibre!” day.
Its aim is to highlight the benefits of FTTH and to encourage governments to make it easier to deploy fibre networks.
According to the Alliance, experts suggest that 2015 will witness a rapid increase in FTTH deployments – driven by consumer demand.
4 November was selected as it commemorates the birthday of Sir Charles Kuen Kao, a Physics Nobel Prize Winner for ground-breaking achievements concerning the transmission of light in fibres for optical communication.
More information about the celebration is available online from the Gimme Fibre Day website.
