Cybersmart has had an excellent year in the fibre-to-the-home and fibre-to-the-business market, with strong growth and industry-leading products.
One of the highlights for Cybersmart was the launch of its FTTH products with user-configurable speeds.
“This was meaningful because it originated from an advertising complaint. To convert a complaint into a compliment is always a highlight,” said Cybersmart CEO Laurie Fialkov.
He said the product was far more successful than they anticipated, which encouraged them to invest further in the development of the service.
Cybersmart is planning to offer free speed upgrades on its FTTH and FTTB products in 2017.
“We are looking at doubling the speed of our home and business Lightspeed services next year, without any increase in pricing,” said Fialkov.
Cybersmart is showing strong growth, especially within its fibre division, and this means the company had to “grow up”.
“One of the things I have always feared is growing into a corporate and losing creativity as a result, but I think we managed to put people and structures in place and still retain our creativity,” said Fialkov.
He said becoming a more mature company was needed when they asked funders “for some proper funding” to accelerate growth.
“Instead of being laughed at, which was previously the case, some decent money was made available. So we look forward on deploying that capital in 2017,” said Fialkov.
