Google Glass in South Africa for R26,999

Takealot has announced on its website that it has a limited number of the Google Glass Explorer Edition wearable computers available for R26,999.

The online retailer has indicated it has the device available in Split Style frames and Edge Style shades.

Local availability of Google Glass from Takealot follows an announcement from the search giant in April 2014 that it would let users outside its Glass Explorer programme buy the device.

According to reports at the time, Google was to sell Google Glass to these users for $1,500 (excluding sales taxes, import duties, and shipping).

Google Glass features a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p video recording, and 16GB storage (of which 12GB is usable).
