HTC Vive virtual reality headset from Valve announced
HTC and Valve have announced a partnership that will see the two companies launch a virtual reality headset, dubbed the HTC Vive.
“Today we are going to present to you a virtual reality headset that will define the game,” said HTC boss Peter Chou.
Executive director of global marketing at HTC Jeff Gattis said the headset will feature 90Hz refresh rate and 360-degree views.
He went on to promise that it will be the first headset with full room scale.
The developer version of the device will launch “this spring” (before May 2015), with Gattis adding that HTC will deliver a consumer product before the end of 2015.
Jan Vermeulen is a guest of HTC at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
