Apple has unveiled its new Apple TV at an event in San Francisco.
Running “powerful hardware” and a “modern OS” – called TV OS – the new Apple TV features a Bluetooth remote which, when turned sideways, acts as a game controller.
The remote features a touch glass surface, along with a “Siri” button.
Voice navigation is also possible on the device, which is combined with “universal search” across iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and Showtime. “We’ll be adding even more over time,” said Apple.
According to a report by The Verge, Apple TV’s new user interface will shift the focus away from TV channels, to content – letting users select shows rather than networks.
An array of “console” games will also be available on the Apple TV, along with online shopping functionality.
