Google is expected to unveil a new version of the Chromecast before the end of September 2015, 9to5Google has reported.
Among the new features are feeds for the device’s main screen, improved Wi-Fi, and a new feature called Fast Play.
According to the report, the new hardware will be a significant departure from the original dongle-type design.
Google is also planning to launch Chromecast Audio, which will allow you to plug it directly into any speaker by way of a line-in cable – providing Chromecast support to any speaker or audio system.
Chromecast Audio will have multi-room support, the ability to mirror your Chrome or Android audio, and offers “high-quality” audio.
The new Chromecast is set to be revealed at a Google event on 29 September, the same day that two new rumoured Nexus smartphones are expected to launch.
9to5Google reported that Spotify will also launch Chromecast support in its mobile app.
