LG Watch Urbane with LTE – first Android Wear smartwatch with cellular connectivity
The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, the first Android Wear smartwatch to feature cellular connectivity, is rolling out to customers worldwide.
Compatible with Android smartphones and iOS devices, the new LG Watch allows users to answer calls and check messages.
Users can also respond from their smartwatch – even when not carrying their mobile phone.
The LG Watch features a timepiece design, consisting of a hairline-etched stainless steel body and a full-circle 348ppi P-OLED display.
Its 570mAh battery and Power Saving Mode support the second edition smartwatch’s “on-the-go” wearable capabilities, said the company.
Cellular support comes to Android Wear
The launch of the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE coincides with the announcement that Android Wear now comes with cellular support.
“No more worrying about Bluetooth or Wi-Fi – your watch will automatically switch to a cellular connection when you’re out of range,” said Google.
As long as your watch and phone are connected to a cellular network, “you’ll be able to use your watch to send and receive messages, track fitness, get answers from Google, and run your favorite apps”.
