Did you guys listen to the budget speech? Me neither – mainly because I work on a 128kbps line and could not spare any bandwidth on video streaming.
Apparently sin taxes went up on all the usual “bad” goods, like alcohol and cigarettes. I also heard the government wants to impose a sugar tax.
If that happens, I think the Finance Minister should place taxes on other goods that are harmful to society, too.
Like a tax on the last pie at a garage being sold at 1am – as drunk party-goers think this will miraculously prevent a hangover.
And what about a tax on paying for your date’s meal at an upmarket restaurant? That kind of behaviour can bankrupt you.
As long as they don’t tax the tech deals, though – they are all that matter.
