Google launches Home smart speaker

Google has launched a competitor to Amazon’s Echo smart speaker – the Google Home.

The Home is a small, non-portable speaker which contains far-field microphones that can hear your commands from any part of a room it is placed in.

It will respond to instructions – such as “play music” or a request to change settings on smart home products – or answer questions.

The Home uses the Google Cast standard, and can be linked to other Home speakers in a house. It is also compatible with the Chromecast.

From the design side, the Home has customisable shells which are available in various colours.

Pricing and availability was not available at the time of writing.
