The top-selling TV brand in South Africa

Hisense has taken the top spot in the South African television market for the fifth consecutive month, with growing sales in the country.
During July 2016, Hisense captured 23% of the market, with its closest competitors securing 16% and 15% market share respectively.
Hisense was not allowed to provide a full list of TV brands by unit sales, but did say it achieved dominance in unit share between March and July 2016.
“In the Chinese domestic market, Hisense consistently maintains a first place ranking in the television space, having done so for the past 13 years,” it said.
Hisense South Africa’s Tommy Jiang said the company’s success can be attributed to its focus on innovation in the market.
Another factor was Hisense’s decision to open a factory in the Western Cape.
“This investment is paying dividends, with local production being able to shelter consumers from the worst of the rise in the rand/dollar exchange rate,” said Jiang.
