Sony expects to launch its Xperia Touch short-throw projector in South Africa, but has not finalised the commercial details.
The company revealed the Xperia Touch at Mobile World Congress 2017, which turns any surface into a 23-inch (1,280 x 720) touchscreen display.
It runs on Android, using infrared light and a 60fps camera to record touch inputs – supporting up to 10-finger multi-touch.
The device has launched in the UAE and Saudi Arabia in MEA, priced at around €1,500.
Sony said the Xperia Touch might launch in South Africa by the end of the year. If it is not commercially available, it will be showcased at select stores.
Vodacom is interested in showcasing the projector at its IoT store in Vodacom World, said Sony.
