Apple sued over technology in Apple TVs

CustomPlay, a software company in Florida, has filed a lawsuit against Apple over a feature in the fourth-generation Apple TV that lets you control video playback using Siri commands, AppleInsider reported.

The company said Apple is infringing on its patented software technology, which lets you replay or skip portions of video in response to commands given by voice or remote control.

The case centres around a feature in the new Apple TV that lets you ask Siri “What did he say?”.

Siri will react to the command, rewind the video, and replay the segment with subtitles enabled.

Court documents show that CustomPlay tried to license its technology to Apple over a year before the fourth-generation Apple TV was unveiled.

CustomPlay is asking for damages and court fees, and has requested a trial by jury.
