Android App Player leaked on BlackBerry.com
In March this year, BlackBerry announced software for the PlayBook that would allow users to run Android and Java applications on the device. An older version of this application mistakenly made its way onto the BlackBerry.com website, and followers were quick to download and test it out before RIM took the page down.
While the app is reportedly “large to download and slow”, and is missing a back button, users have found ways around these issues, though the general consensus seems to be this is quite an old version of the software.
RIM confirmed that an “older version” of the software was posted to their site in error, and commented, “We recommend that users refrain from downloading and installing this software since it is outdated and non-functional in many respects. The official beta release of the Android App Player for the BlackBerry PlayBook is on track for release later this summer.”
