Sony has launched its latest high-end display, the “award-winning” Crystal LED, for home use.
The displays are now available for home installation, after initially being introduced in the commercial and entertainment markets.
“Sony now offers residential configurations and installation, giving consumers an unrivalled home theatre technology capable of displaying 8K HDR video content and beyond – up to 16K,” said Sony.
Crystal LED is a modular technology, enabling it to be installed in almost any desired size and resolution to accommodate a home.
Sony said example sizes are:
- Full HD Size (18 Units) – 110-inch
- 4K Size (72 Units) – 220-inch
- 8K Size (288 Units) – 440-inch
- 16K Size (576 Units) – 790-inch
For reference, the 790-inch 16K display measures 19 metres wide and 5.4 metres high.
“Scaling this technology to residential installation marks a milestone in Sony’s efforts to get closer to consumers,” said Sony,
“Crystal LED delivers over a million-to-one contrast ratio, the most accurate light levels, low heat emission, and a picture quality that is absolutely breathtaking.”
Sony said the Crystal LED displays are available from a select group of dealers.
The technical details of the display are listed below:
- HDR with high brightness (1,000 nits)
- 10-bit grayscale
- 140% of sRGB colour gamut
- High frame rates – up to 120p
- 99% black surface area for high contrast
