Huawei has opened pre-orders for one of its latest smartwatches, the Huawei Watch GT 2 Sport 42mm, to South African buyers.
Users can choose from an extensive range of Quickfit straps, including leather, Milanese and fluoroelastomer.
It features a 1.2-inch 390 x 390 AMOLED touch display, with support for swipes and presses.
Features
The watch boasts a wide selection of features, including a heart rate monitor, step counter, activity tracking, air pressure detector, a compass, and sleep and stress tracking.
Training modes cover a variety of sports, including running, walking, cycling, hiking, climbing, and swimming.
For reliable performance in the elements, the device has water resistance measured at up to 50 meters.
Huawei’s smartwatches offer exceptional battery life, with the 42mm Watch GT 2’s cell able to last up to one week with typical use. The battery can also be fully charged in less than an hour.
Supported notifications
The smartwatch can be synced with smartphones running Android 4.4 or higher, or iOS 9.0 and later.
Once connected, wearers will be able to receive alerts for received messages, incoming calls, and other app notifications.
Additionally, this allows the wearer to control the playback and volume of music played from the synced device.

The pre-order bundles the watch with a set of Huawei’s Freelace wireless headphones.
The Watch GT 2 Sport is priced at R4,499 on pre-order now from the Huawei’s South African store.
