Parrot A.R. Drone now compatible with Android
Parrot, makers of the A.R. Drone quadrocopter have released an application on the Android Marketplace that allows Android smartphone users to pilot the A.R. Drone using their mobile phone.
The smartphone connects to the same Wi-Fi network as the A.R. Drone and controls the movement of the quadrocopter, allowing users to pilot it while viewing the A.R. Drones onboard camera.
Parrot has also made the Software Development Kit (SDK) available for developers who want to expand and develop their own applications for the A.R. Drone.
Devices compatible with the A.R. Drone software are:
Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S 2, Nexus S, Motorola Xoom, HTC Desire, HTC Desire HD, HTC Sensation, LG Optimus 2x and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.
Parrot intends to develop the software further to ensure more phones appear on the compatibility list in future.

‘AR.FreeFlight’ and SDK for Android™
The users of Android–powered smartphones and fans of the Parrot AR.Drone can now find a free version of AR.FreeFlight’s piloting application developed by Parrot on Android Market™.
Once the application has been downloaded and connected via Wi-Fi with the quadricopter, the device’s screen turns into a true piloting station.
Parrot is also making the Software Development Kit available free of charge, on https://projects.ardrone.org, in order for developers to develop their own Android based applications for the AR.Drone.
Currently the compatible devices are the Samsung Galaxy S*, Galaxy S II* and Nexus S ; Motorola Xoom* ; HTC Desire*, Desire HD, Sensation and LG Optimus 2x and Sony Ericsson Xperia Play**. This list will continue to grow and will be constantly updated on www.ardrone.com/android.
