Summary: Two Boogie board writing tablet models are now available in South Africa for R399 and R599 respectively.
The Boogie Board tablet which makes use of an energy efficient LCD screen markets itself as “the tree-friendly electronic alternative to paper.”
Using the provided stylus, a comb or fingernails, users can write or draw on the tablet’s surface using variable pressure levels, which mimics the way a pen works on paper.
An erase button found on the side of the unit clears the screen, while the unit is powered by a standard watch battery that will provide up to 50,000 screen erases on the 8.5-inch model.
The Boogie Board’s display measures 8.5 inches by 5.6 inches and is roughly half the size of an A4 piece of paper.
The 8.5-inch Boogie Board is available in 7 different colours and has a recommended retail price of R399. A larger 10.5-inch unit with additional features such as an erase button lock function and replaceable battery is also available and has an RRP of R599.
Both writing tablets are available from www.verizongreen.co.za with major retailers set to offer the devices soon.
