Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7-inch confirmed for SA
Korean electronics giant Samsung has revealed that its new 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 will be launched in global markets from March, and will arrive in South Africa in Q2 2012.
The device is available in 21Mbps HSPA+ 3G and Wi-Fi versions and will run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
In addition to Google’s updated suite of embedded applications for Android 4.0, the new Galaxy Tab will also include the Samsung Music Hub, Readers Hub, and Game Hub.
Samsung also introduced its new Video Hub which it says will offer 1,000 film titles for rent and provides reviews, trailers, and recommendations.
Unlike the Music Hub, which has yet to launch in South Africa, Samsung confirmed that the Video Hub will launch in SA in 2012.
The Galaxy Tab 2 also includes Samsung’s upgraded Touchwiz user interface that features:
- Hub widgets for one-step access to users’ content in Hubs; and
- S Suggest, a new service offering recommendations of apps suited to users’ tastes directly on a home screen.
According to Samsung, the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 includes voice call capability which can be used as easily as any phone.
